Energy efficiency is at the centre of action to decarbonize the UK in the most cost effective way and achieve the national and international carbon reduction targets. Salix Finance is dedicated to supporting public sector bodies in the UK to tackle climate change and reduce energy bills, by providing 100% interest-free capital loans for energy efficiency projects.

Salix is a non-profit organisation, funded by the Department for Energy and Climate Change, the Department for Education, the Education Funding Agency, the Higher Education Funding Council for England, the Welsh Government, and the Scottish Government.

Since 2004, we have worked with a variety of public sector clients throughout England, Scotland and Wales, providing over £375 million for more than 13,000 projects, achieving life time savings of £1.4 billion in energy costs and 7.4 million tonnes of carbon (Data as of July 2015).

Salix funding is available for over 120 different technologies, including interior/exterior lighting, street lighting, bollards and traffic lights.  Funding solutions can be tailored to individual client requirements, such as street lighting projects which can be phased over several years, allowing greater flexibility and support. We are also able to offer part-funding for projects that exceed Salix eligibility criteria.

Salix has experience working strategically with public sector clients on their carbon management plans and can secure funding over a number of years, enabling clients to take strong steps towards meeting their carbon and financial objectives.
