The ILP Professional Lighting Summit 2019 will see several major organisations provide Continuous Professional Development to highway lighting engineers and designers. Speakers have already been confirmed from the Association for Public Service Excellence, the Highway Electrical Association, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institute of Highway Engineers, and the International Commission on Illumination (CIE), with more organisations invited and soon to be announced.

On 12th June the event will be looking at common issues for the exterior lighting community: not just exploring the problems around funding, changing regulations and new demands from technology, but providing answers and guidance on how to embrace these opportunities - making life easier for our engineers and designers and for the communities and clients they serve. Whether its tussles between contractors and designers, or puzzles over electric vehicles, the ILP is collaborating with the foremost experts to give practical help to our core membership.

The event continues on 13th June with a series of challenging sessions questioning how and why we design the lighting we do:

  • does the public love or hate LED?!
  • how we can deal effectively with glare and flicker
  • Lighting Impact Assessments and your role as a lighting professional
  • case studies we can all learn from: underwater lighting, smart city roll outs and environmental schemes

Operations Manager, Jess Gallacher, explains “This event features CPD to improve everyone’s lighting skills. We invite the lighting community to come along to one or both days and learn from each other, giving you knowledge and inspiration to make your role easier and help you have more impact.”

The Professional Lighting Summit also includes workshops and an exhibition. Thanks to the support of our numerous exhibitors along with sponsors, Designs for Lighting, the day delegate rates are excellent value having been subsidised to just £90 for one day’s attendance. It takes place on 12 and 13 June at the Life Science Centre in Newcastle, UK.

Booking is now open and all are welcome.
