Technical Paper:    Requirements for electrical street furniture

The IET working with the HEA, London Lighting Engineers Group (LoLEG) and the ILP have published a guidance document looking at the requirements for highway electrical supplies for the increasing diverse range of electrical street furniture / equipment being deployed within the street.  Allan was one of the document authors and the paper will consider how these service provisions may be considered and their requirements from the initial consideration of providing a service such as EV charge points or market pillars through how these then need to be planned, consulted upon and then the electrical design requirements through to installation and operation.

As part of this Allan will also discuss the ILP’s ‘Humble lamp post’ project which is considering the future ready requirements for the lighting column with respect to EV charging, Smart Cities, local authority services etc. How should this structure be considered to meet future needs?
