Our fourth technical session of the 2018/2019 regional programme will be as follows.
1st Presenter: Josey Wardle(Infrastructure Manager) - Zero Carbon Futures
Technical Paper: The UK government's objective is to decarbonise the new car fleet by 2040 and for almost all cars and vans on UK roads to be zero emission by 2050. The adoption of ultra-low emission vehicles is key to this decarbonisation plan. However, the plug-in vehicle market is still a niche area where technology and customer acceptance are continuing to develop. The market offers both battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, but model choice, availability, price and range are still perceived by many to be inferior to internal combustion engine vehicles. Therefore, to encourage increased uptake, the UK government offers financial incentives towards both vehicles and charging equipment. This presentation will summarise the charging requirements of today's plug-in vehicles and outline the funding currently available for vehicles and charging equipment.
2nd Presenter: Naomi Nye(EV Sales Manager UK) - Alfen
Technical Paper: To enable the Industry to understand the current requirements for EV charging, the EV industry progression that is shaping this and the effect of legislation and planning on new developments and retro fit projects. The concept of smart charging, the need and requirements for smart charging units and the additional value provided for projects moving forward.
