Chairman Jonathon Ayers invites you to register your interest in attending the next Midland Region Technical Event to be held at Rolls Royce Learning & Development Centre.

The following papers & speakers will be

Alan Jaques FILP IEng (ATKINS) – “Better Lighting For All”
Better trained and developed lighting professionals will help improve the standing of engineers and benefit society as a whole. This, together with raising the importance and benefits of good lighting to a wider, more influential audience, will help our profession gain the recognition and funding that it deserves.

Nigel/Ryan Parry (ORANGETEK) – “Circadian Centric Lighting”
The paper focuses on dynamic CCTs which adapt in line with a human’s circadian rhythm

Simone Rossi (CREE) – What is a suitable driving current in Street Lighting? Performance vs Prescriptive Specifications.
The paper addresses the topic of whether specification for tenders and projects should be prescriptive or define performance targets through an analysis of driving currents & constraints set on the parameter in several project specifications. The presentation outlines some of the most typical requirements drawn from several projects and it investigates what the similarities/differences are.

Simon Hobbs (Electrical Testing Ltd) – 18th Edition, Revolution or Evolution?With the introduction of the 18th Edition of the IET Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS7671:2018), the first new Edition since 2008, Simon will discuss whether there been a wholesale rewriting of the document or an evolution of this key national standard. He will also look at how the changes specifically affect the highway electrical industry and possible financial implications that need to be considered.
