Rotherham United Football Club, New York Stadium, Don Street, Rotherham S60 1AH

Here at the ILP we have unveiled plans for a day of exhibitions and CPD seminars, under the banner of our popular Lightscene event.

Lightscene is the best place to both source new suppliers and to develop existing relationships. Our professional event provides a complete day of discovery, technology-rich insights, design inspiration and the opportunity to gain CPD hours and make networking connections.

We’re an educational show, not an unsophisticated sales showcase, so you can discover what's new and help your career at the same time.

Lightscene will take place on Tuesday 9 October at Rotherham United Football Club

The theme for this year's Lightscene will be 'The A to Z of Asset Management'

From asset registers to zebra crossing beacons, the challenges of asset management are growing all the time. With the profession now facing Well Managed Highways, EV supplies and smart city technology, we are all experiencing struggles and opportunities linked to the diversification of street lighting assets.

Do you need help with your quality inventory? Is this all just ‘maintenance in a party frock’? Do you understand how this is changing budgets and funding? The ILP has arranged a one off CPD day where you can get the answers you need to make your role easier, and be more successful. We’ll be putting on free to attend CPD seminars alongside an exhibition of companies aiming to help you get to grips with this enormous subject.

Lightscene enables companies of any size to exhibit alongside each other on an equal basis. At Lightscene, each company pays a small fee for a very high level of exposure. All spaces are 3m x 2m and only one space per company is permitted.

Your organisation can exhibit at Lightscene without the expense of hiring couriers or stand builders and without the hassle of hours spent setting up and breaking down. We encourage exhibition stands to be kept to a simple style of re-usable construction (e.g. pop-ups or banners), with exhibitors welcome to bring along stand alone or table top display items.

Well Managed Highway Infrastructure: An introduction to the new code of practice for managing highway assets
Andy Warrington

Andy will outline the background to the new code of practice published in October 2016 and due to be implemented by all local highway authorities by October 2018. He will also discuss some of the key changes from the previous codes of practice and share a view of how local highway authorities are prioritising and tackling the changes.

Are you ready for the new Code of Practice?
session delivered by ILP Premier Corporate Member WSP - everyone welcome
Allan Howard BEng(Hons) CEng FILP FSLL, WSP

Well-Managed Highway Infrastructure: a code of practice has been developed through consultation with practitioners, professionals and user groups. It was approved and published by the UKRLG in October 2016 and comes into force in October this year. The ILP are aligning TR22 to aid members in meeting the CoP but through regional workshops there seems to be a lack of awareness of the CoP’s existence. Allan will review and advise on the CoP which requires a step change in approach requiring an understanding of asset condition and a risk / asset management approach to the management of the asset.

Global Market Access – What should I know when I am exporting my luminaires?
session delivered by ILP Premier Corporate Member UL - everyone welcome
Dr. Hans Laschefski, UL

Different markets – different requirements – and very often an unexpected surprise. You may be familiar with all the general and local requirements in your home market. Due to a promising contact from a trade fair, a strategic decision in your company or even due to political circumstances an export idea or export need occurs. So how should you proceed? Underwriters Laboratories (UL) will provide a short introduction with a brief overview about the general regulations exist around the world. First part, we will cover some idea of requirements which you have to fulfill in general – depending on the region where you want to export to. In the second part, we will present special requirements for a specific country in the middle east region. This serves as an example of how to approach this country and how UL can offer this knowledge through our GMA-team (Global Market Access). Is it all just about safety? No it isn´t. Final part, we will share some information relating to marketing claims for a proven light quality of your product. Low optical flicker – a light quality promise that may distinguish you from your competitor.

A Local Authority Risk Manager’s Perspective
Paul Middleton, Central Bedfordshire

Paul will take us through how the code is being implemented and the risk management associated with a risk-based approach. He will explore what we have learnt to date, where the areas of concerns are and how we need to manage this with the political needs of a local authority. Learn how the risk based approach is managed with the differing needs and objectives of the assets, and the way we can innovate to ensure that we reduce the risk.

Visitor places are FREE! You don't need to be an ILP member to come along; there is a warm welcome for everyone at this event hosted by the ILP Northern and Midland Regions along with the YLP.
